FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Do you ship to North America?
The short answer is yes. If you would like your order shipped to North America, the shopping cart will take you through the ordering process and charge you for domestic (UK) shipping. Your order will then be packed and weighed and you will receive a separate invoice for the additional shipping charges. This means you can see exactly how much it will cost to ship your order and you can make a decision over whether to complete the order. If you decide the overseas shipping makes it too much, you will receive a prompt refund and the items in your order will be returned to the store for others to purchase. To get an idea of UK postal rates to any country, please check Royal Mail’s website. In general, keep in mind that scrapbooking supplies already available in the US are not economical to buy from the UK: we’ve already had to pay to ship those goods here from the US in the first place and now we would just be sending them back. But items from UK manufacturers and handmade pieces may be another story.
The good news is that if all goes well with our UK launch, we will have selected items shipping from the USA very soon, which will help make things more affordable to our North American friends. (And all that was the long answer!)
Can I have my order sent to an address outside the UK?
Yes. The shopping cart will take you through the ordering process and charge you for domestic (UK) shipping. Your order will then be packed and weighed and you will receive a separate invoice for the additional shipping charges. Upon payment of the shipping invoice, your order will be sent via Royal Mail. To get an idea of UK postal rates to your country, please check their website.
In the event that the additional shipping is too high for your budget, you can cancel your order and the original payment will be promptly refunded.
What if I purchase physical goods and an online class in the same order?
That’s fine! Obviously there is no shipping charge for an online class. Only physical items will create shipping charges in your shopping cart. Your physical items will be delivered by Royal Mail and your online class information will arrive by email in your inbox.
What happens when I sign up for an online class?
Our online classes are held on a forum which serves two purposes: giving you permanent access to the class files and offering a place to chat and share your work with others. So to get started with an online class you will need a name on our forum so you can log in and get to work. If you have a login name already and include it in your order notes when you pay, you will have access to your new class within twenty-four hours. If you don’t have a login name, that’s fine too: you’ll receive an email with instructions for joining and you’ll be on your merry way in no time.
How do live, archived and seasonal classes differ?
A live class is currently active or due to start very soon. In the live run, you will receive the class prompts by email in addition to being able to download them from the forum. Live classes have more discussion between participants, as everyone is working on the projects at the same time. Even if you aren’t the type to chat on a message board, you can see the answers to questions from other participants and check out the work that is created in response to the prompts for even more inspiration. Discussion is on a message board, not by email, so you can decide how much or how little you participate in that element of the process — and it doesn’t clutter your inbox.
An archived class has finished its original live run. You can still take this class, but instead of receiving individual prompts by email, you will download them from the forum and work through them at your own pace. There is still the potential to share your work and discuss points from the project, but as many people will have completed the project, there will be fewer people chatting on the board.
There are two classes that are seasonal: these run every year at a certain point in time (Learn Something New starts on the first of September; Journal your Christmas starts on the first of December). Once you join the class, you are a member for as many years as you want at no extra cost. The class outline is the same but additional materials are added each year to add new elements and keep up with current design trends. You can purchase these classes year round and access the materials, but the new materials for each year are added as the class is live for its season — no peeking ahead of time!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept payment by major credit and debit cards. We also accept Paypal payments. When you complete your order and are ready to pay, you can choose to pay by card (on the left of your screen) or login to Paypal and pay from your account there (on the right of your screen).
How much is shipping?
Shipping charges are determined by weight and follow Royal Mail’s first class posting costs for UK orders.
What is your return policy?
Our return policy varies for different items.
If you change your mind about a physical item like stamps or a kit, you can return the item within fourteen days and receive a full refund. The items must be returned in the same condition as they were received. Please email us before returning an item so we can give you detailed instructions on posting it back.
Handmade and customised items and online classes are generally non-refundable. Of course, if the item is not what you expected, we will put this right. Please email us within fourteen days.
Is my information safe?
We do not and will not sell on or distribute your email address or contact details under any circumstances. Our payment gateway is secure and we never see your credit card details. So yes, your information is safe!
How long can I access the materials for an online class?
When you purchase an online class, you have permanent access to the classroom materials. If you lose a file for any reason, you can come back and download it again. No worries! And if we run the class again, you can participate again at no extra cost.
Can I buy an online class as a gift for a friend?
Yes! Purchase the class as normal. As you confirm your payment, there is a comment box. Just let us know that the class is for your friend and give us her email address. We’ll let her know that the class was a gift from you — or let us know if you prefer to remain anonymous.
Can I share my class materials with a friend?
No. When you purchase an online class, you purchase one seat in the class. Our materials retain our copyright and our guest artists retain the copyright to their own work. We purposely keep our prices low so you get your money’s worth. If your friend would like to see what our classes are like, we offer free materials on shimelle.com!
Can I teach your online class at a store or a crop?
A class license can be purchased for any of our classes, which gives you teaching notes and class resources that can be printed for all your students. Just send us an email and we’ll get back to you with all the details.
Can you teach this online class at my crop or store?
Possibly! Send me an email and we’ll see if we can arrange a date that would work for everyone.
Where can I contact you in writing?
It is easiest to reach us by email.
We can also be reached in writing at 11 South Row, London, SE3 0RY.
